Fundamentals in Small Animal Dentistry For The Veterinarian - January 20 and 21, 2018

This RACE APPROVED 2-day lecture and wet-lab covers fundamentals of canine and feline dentistry with clinical images and intraoral radiographs in order to improve pathology recognition and surgical skills.  From clinical dental anatomy and examination to periodontal disease, fractured teeth, and recognizing common oral pathology to step-by-step extraction principles, regional nerve blocks, and intraoral radiograph interpretation.

Small Animal Dentistry For Veterinary Technicians - January 13 and 14, 2018

This RACE APPROVED 2-day lecture and lab for technicians develops knowledge and skills in dental anatomy, nomenclature, and charting so that common oral and dental pathology is recognized. Periodontal disease, the periodontal cleaning/prophylaxis, and dental home care will be presented. Intraoral radiographic positioning to obtain diagnostic images will be taught. Regional nerve blocks will be discussed. Dental instrumentation and care will be covered in a section of the lab.

Intermediate Dentistry for Veterinarians and Beyond - May 19 and 20, 2018

This intermediate 2-day lab and lecture course builds on fundamental knowledge and skills obtained in the fundamental course or similar obtained knowledge. The clinical image and intraoral radiographed base presentations will present step-by-step oronasal fistula repair, advanced extraction techniques for the challenging dentition, restorations, and periodontal surgery to save teeth as an alternative to extraction or neglect. Subtle hints of common oral and dental pathology will be presented. Diagnosing and treating oral tumors will be discussed.

This 2-day course has 4 hours of lecture and 4 hours of laboratory each day. It is designed to give veterinarians increased exposure to fundamental core pathology and step-by-step extraction and complication of extraction management. It is extension of fundamental skills learned in the fundamental course or equivalent. The majority of the course is a hands on laboratory supplemented with didactic teaching of step-by-step clinical photographs and radiographs. The course will begin with step-by-step presentation of mucoperiosteal flap creation, surgical extractions of individual teeth, regional analgesia, and management of extraction complications.
